چکیده

Chattering alarms, which repeatedly and rapidly make transitions between alarm and normal states in a short time period, are the most common form of nuisance alarms that severely degrade the performance of alarm systems for industrial plants. One reason for chattering alarms is the presence of oscillation in process signals. The paper proposes an online method to promptly detect the chattering alarms due to vailable online 12 April 2013 eywords: rocess safety hattering alarms scillation oscillation and to effectively reduce the number of chattering alarms. In particular, a revised chattering index is proposed to quantify the level of chattering alarms; the discrete cosine transform-based method is used to detect the presence of oscillation; two mechanisms by adjusting the alarm trippoint and using a delay timer are exploited to reduce the number of chattering alarms. An industrial case study is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. larm systems

Online reduction of chattering alarms due to random noise and oscillation ⋆

Chattering alarms repeatedly make transitions between alarm and non-alarm states without response from operators, and severely deteriorate the performance of industrial alarm systems. Two rules are formulated based on the metrics of alarm durations and intervals to detect chattering alarms caused by random noise and oscillation. An online method is proposed to reduce the number of the chatterin...

An online method to remove chattering and repeating alarms based on alarm durations and intervals

Chattering and repeating alarms, which repeatedly make transitions between alarm and non-alarm states without operators’ response, are the most common form of nuisance alarms encountered in industrial plants. The paper formulates two novel rules to detect chattering alarms caused by random noise and repeating alarms by regular patterns such as oscillation, and proposes an online method to effec...

A Lightweight Intrusion Detection System Based on Specifications to Improve Security in Wireless Sensor Networks

Due to the prevalence of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) in the many mission-critical applications such as military areas, security has been considered as one of the essential parameters in Quality of Service (QoS), and Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is considered as a fundamental requirement for security in these networks. This paper presents a lightweight Intrusion Detection System to prote...

DIRECT ADAPTIVE FUZZY PI SLIDING MODE CONTROL OF SYSTEMS WITH UNKNOWN BUT BOUNDED DISTURBANCES

An asymptotically stable direct adaptive fuzzy PI sliding modecontroller is proposed for a class of nonlinear uncertain systems. In contrast toother existing approaches of handling disturbances, the proposed approachdoes not require this bound to be known, only requiring that it exists. Moreover, a PI control structure is used to attenuate chattering. The approachis applied to stabilize an open-...

Detection of power oscillation and simultaneous faults using Clark transform

Distance relays are widely used to protect transmission lines. Sometimes, in these lines due to the occurrence of the oscillation of the power, the impedance calculated in the distance relay enters into its functional zones and leads to the cutting off of the lines. This issue can cause global power outages. Accordingly, in this paper, a Clark-based method for detecting the oscillation of power...
